It is a known fact that Taiwanese love cute things and after living in Taiwan for several years, I sometimes tend to gravitate towards certain things that are cute and adorable as well. Now, you won’t see me sporting Hello Kitty T-shirts or wearing pretty bows in my hair, but I don’t mind photographing cute or ‘hao ke ai’ things – for example, the cute bears that are currently on display in Taichung.

2016 Lohas Teddy Bear Carnival in Taichung, Taiwan
One beautiful day last week, my husband, my son, and I took advantage of the sunny weather one late afternoon and went to one of the parks in Taichung called Wenxin Forest Park (台中文心森林公園 in Chinese – located a stone’s throw away from Ikea). The main purpose of our visit was to see the bear exhibits that are currently on display there.
The park was pretty crowded because it was the long weekend. Several several children and their parents were snapping pictures of the bears located at different points around the park. There also seemed to be many younger and older couples taking the time to attend the bear exhibition as well.
Each display has one bear doing the exact same ‘tai chi’ like pose. Some are sponsored by local organizations and businesses around town, but most are paid for by the government. Each display has a different, unique, and colorful design.
The bears will be on display in Taichung until January 23rd, 2017 before they make their way to the southern city of Kaohsiung where they will be on display from January 24th, 2017 to February 21st, 2017. They will be on display around Formosa Boulevard (高雄美麗島大道 to be exact).
Furthermore, like most outdoor exhibits in Taiwan, it is free to attend.
