Yes, it is that time of the year again. Autumn is here and we are feeling the ever so slightest drop in temps in Taiwan. But, the changing of the seasons also means that it is festival time in Taichung. Here is some information about the upcoming festivals occurring in central Taiwan this fall.

The 2015 Taichung Jazz Festival is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 and will be in full swing and ‘jazzing up the night’ right up until Sunday, November 1st, 2015. The festival is being held a little later this year, which could actually be a good thing, as cool comfortable breezes will make performance watching all the more enjoyable. And like previous years, there is a great line-up of both local talent and international entertainment.

The 2015 Taichung Flower Festival is scheduled to start on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 and will conclude on Sunday, December 6th, 2015. This gives people a month-long window to admire the fields of flowers and flower displays. I am not sure what is in store for us this year, but if it is anything like previous years, there will be lots of flowers and lots of photo opps.

  1. Such a great variety of shots, Constance. I love them all. Hard to pick a favourite but I really like the 2013 Taichung orange and red flower shots. Amazing colours, simply stunning. In general, I’m not a huge fan of flower shots, mainly because I get hayfever really bad and flowers make me sneeze – even when it’s not spring. I like attending festivals where there are music performances, though. Really into that. Musicians always put their heart and soul into what they do, and that is always enjoyable to watch. Sometimes I get too carried away by the performances to take photos. Those are wonderful shots of what was happening up on stage 🙂

    1. Hay fever? Oh, no! I am sure attending a flower festival would not be a pleasant experience for you.

I agree with you. Music Festivals are a lot of fun. The Taichung Jazz Festival draws a great crowd year after year because it is free to attend. The same with the Taichung Flower Festival – it is free as well.

  2. What a stunning array of flowers photos!

Where I am in Turkey, there are some pretty floral display in the city centre but the variety of potted plants (floral and other wise) are limited to a handful in the florists. All the potted plants and flowers for bouquets are of the same kind. Even the bouquets are of the same style.

I wanted to get an orchid for my kitchen. The ones I have seen so far do not have flower buds on them.

  3. Sounds like there’s so much going on in Taiwan in Autumn Constance but the flower festival looks absolutely gorgeous – just look at all those colours! Though I too would definitely need to stock up on my hayfever pills if I was visiting that 🙂
