Beauty & Fierceness – [Photographing 2015] The Eighteenth Week

Thanks to all those who expressed concern and commented on my previous post. I am feeling much better now and I am looking forward to June.

I have always considered June to be my month. I moved to Taiwan in June, I met my husband and we got married in June [different years, of course] and we moved into our house in June. Plus, we will be celebrating the big number 10 this month, our 10th wedding anniversary, and according to Hallmark, that calls of a gift of diamond jewelry [a little hint! hint! to my husband if he is reading]. Thus, June is a month of fun and celebrations for us.

Anyway, my blog has been kind of on the back burner lately. I have a lot of posts with a lot of substance half completed, but I am focusing most of my time these days on finishing my book [I need to finish it]. So, with that and a combination of celebration plans, if my posts in June are few and far between, you know why and I apologize in advance!

So, now onto the photos!

Sweeter than Sweet! [Sweet potatoes cooked in a sugary type substance. They taste absolutely amazing. Luckily, I haven’t found a vendor in my area that is on par with the one in Nantou which takes these to a whole new level of awesomeness!]

  1. I love the warrior photos, Constance. Each time I come back to your blog, your photo-taking skills have improved tremendously. Such clarity in your shots and with so many people around you watching, they come out amazing.

Sounds like a big month for you. Happy anniversary, I hope your husband gets the hint…and serves it up with a special meal or a special day out πŸ™‚ Good luck on your book. How exciting, on the tail end process and I can’t wait to read it. So, you better finish it or this small girl will come after you πŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks for the compliment, Mabel, but you are really too kind. So many factors come into taking a photo and one of them is luck. I just love all the photos you post on instagram!! The quality and clarity is second to none. I really need to figure out a way to transfer great quality shots to instragram like you do. It is all a learning process! I really need to check out the app you suggested.

We have lots of big plans for June. As with getting the hint, he has heard it loud and clear as I am not one to beat around the bush. πŸ™‚

It is finally nearing the end and I can’t wait to hold a copy of the first completed first draft in my hands. So close now, but the filling in some gaps, fine tuning the smaller details, and tying up loose ends is the hardest!

      1. Thanks, Constance. I still prefer editing photos on my laptop, though, and do that for most of my photos. I feel that I can see more on a bigger screen!

Great that your husband has got the hint. It’s the big tenth anniversary, so I hope he will live up to the expected hype πŸ˜‰

So excited that your book will be in physical copies. And I’m sure it will be a good read. I cannot wait.

        1. Me, too! I have the dilemma of loosing quality when I upload a photo on instagram.

I am not sure about physical copies yet but I will have a manuscript copy soon that a printed at home on my printer! I actually have one now but it is pretty written up with corrections and notes and additional details to be included.

  2. Is your husband good at taking hints? I generally find men are no bloody good with hints, he needs a BIG hint, like, for example, telling him in the face! … But then, it is the Big 10, so hopefully it will be a memorable one for both of you! πŸ˜€

  3. first of all: happy future 10th wedding anniversary and many, many returns of this celebration! ❀ (we're gonna celebrate our 35th in 2 months!)

2nd of all: your post looks like a wonderful rainbow… I'm watchin' and I'm readin' your post with deep nostalgia… ❀ I love your favourite flowers, too, I did come across them in Hawaii last February… oh, the yellow cactus flowers grow here, as well: it's one of the typical Mediterranean plants.

    1. Yes, the eyebrows are pretty awesome! haha

The flower is called frangipani. I have seen several color variations of this flower, but my favorite is yellow and white. I have heard it being referred to as the ‘egg flower’ in Taiwan.

      1. Oooh, that name sounds familiar! I googled it and saw that it is also called plumeria, I had a plumeria scented lotion once and it smelled sooo good, hahaha.

    1. They are delicious. Luckily, I haven’t found a vendor near me that tastes as good as the one located about two hours away. Whenever we go hiking, we always treat ourselves to these on the way home [my favorite vendor is located at the foot of the mountains.]

I think I know what you are taking about. The sweet potatoes are cut into fries and syrup is drizzled over them when they are cooked, creating a crispy texture on the outside.

  4. Lovely photos as usual! I particular love the Friday one, dragons are so cool for me.
Those sweet potatoes look super sweet, I take your words about being delicious πŸ™‚

    1. I love the dragons as well, especially the finer details like the whiskers and scales.

The sweet potatoes are really sweet but really awesome. I usually only eat them after a day of hiking – the perfect treat to end the day with!

  5. Happy (early?) Anniversary to you and your husband, Constance!

Those sweet potatoes look so sweet and so delicious! AAAHHHH… I miss Taiwan and all its street food!
