Bears, Bears Everywhere [Part 2]

As the 2014 Teddy Bear Lohas Carnival in Taichung begins to wind down and draws to a close, I thought I should post the second installment before it actually finishes on Sunday, January 11th, 2015.

December proved to be a busy month for me with some chapters closing and new ones beginning. Thus, due to the number of changes occurring in my life, I had to see the second part of the ‘carnival’ on a Saturday. And although there were massive crowds, it was still an enjoyable experience overall as people were respectful of others taking photos.

The weather was quite chilly that day but that didn’t influence our good spirits as we headed to Calligraphy Greenway – an area smack dab in the middle of the busiest area in Taichung, an area known for its greenery and large open space.

General Information

And like I said in a previous post, the two most popular areas to see the bear displays are Maple Garden (which I covered before) and Calligraphy Greenway. The bears are evenly scattered along the pathways and are a short walking distance from each other. Most of the bears have been sponsored by local organizations, businesses, and restaurants. Each bear has been uniquely designed to reflect the sponsor’s logo and purpose.

It is free to roam around and look at the displays. Personally, I like the fact that it doesn’t cost a dime (or I guess I should say it doesn’t cost a NT dollar).

For more information, you can check out this facebook page and while you are there, be sure to drop by my facebook page as well and say hello. I would love to hear from you!

Now, over to you!  Do any of these bears stand out or catch your eye? Be sure to let me know by dropping me a line in the comment box below!

  1. The photographer bear caught my eye! They all look so cute!

    A few years ago, Barcelona had some thing similar with cows located all over the city, London with elephants, which I unfortunelty did see and Cannes one year had giant sweets/candy/toffee wrapped in different flags for some world summit. I think teddy bears are cuter!

  2. First of all, never apologies for lots of photos! 😉
    Soooo many cute bears, but I think my favorites were the blue/white patterned pottery bears and next-to-last onsen bears. Well, I say onsen, but I don’t know if the reading for 温泉 is the same in Taiwan? ^^;

    1. Sorry for the late response! I am having difficulty remembering which comments I haven’t responded to (the new WP notification system is certainly not better).

      I love those bears as well. No, in Chinese it is ‘wen quan’ (in pinyin). I love hot springs – very good for the skin!
