Preparations are well underway for the 2014 Taichung Flower Festival which starts this Saturday, November 8th, 2014 and continues until Sunday, December 7th, 2014. From the photos I have seen on facebook and the design schematics posted on the internet, it looks like it is going to be pretty spectacular again this year.

I think it is important to mention that it is a free event which attracts many visitors, so arrange your time to attend accordingly. It is very popular on weekends which means huge crowds and lots of traffic. Plus, the weather is cooler now so it will attract even more visitors. Personally, I love to go early on a weekday as there tends to be fewer people, making it an ideal time to photograph the perfectly arranged and geometrically designed fields of flowers.

For more information about the festival, feel free to check out a previous post that I wrote last year, the Festival’s facebook page, or the official website of the festival (which has an English section).

I will be dedicating a post entirely to the festival after I attend which will include lots of pictures, my personal thoughts about the arrangements, and more info – so, watch this space!

UPDATE:  Be sure to check out my latest post about this year’s festival, containing lots of pictures and some details about our visit!

      1. Sitting in the middle and taking pictures sounds like a good ideaーbetter make sure you make it there before I go rolling in them and crush the poor flowers to bits. 😉

So far so good, hope yours is going well too. 🙂

  1. Wow, this looks simply amazing! I have never seen anything even close to this. I remember few years ago was the horticultural expo in Xi’an but I did not go there in the end because it was simply too hot and there were too many people

    1. It is pretty awesome. I have been attending the festival for years now and it keeps getting better, but timing the visit is best to avoid the crowds! And good decision – I can imagine how many people something like this would attract in Xian.

  2. Gorgeous shot! I never been to a festival but every other year in Brussels they make a “flower carpet” is absolutely stunning.
